ACTION ALERT: Calling All Vets and Their Families
ACTION ALERT COMMENTARY: Governor LePage will soon have LD 1469 come across his desk. This bill would allow non-profits like the VFW and the Elks to have slot machines. The people of Maine clearly spoke last fall in regard to gambling expansion, and the answer was NO! The Governor has not yet decided whether or not to veto this legislation. He does not want to see gambling expanded, but proponents have framed this bill as a pro-vet issue making it more difficult to veto. Governor LePage needs to hear that Maine citizens expect him to honor the will of the people and not establish scores of mini-casinos around our state. If you are a veteran or a service family, be sure to identify yourself and let the Governor know his denial of these slot machines in no way can be interpreted as being unsupportive of our vets.
