Nearly 200 people attend MassResistance Banquet
November 15th, 2006The League's executive director, Mike Heath, attended Brian Camenker's MassResistance Banquet last night in Boxborough Massachusetts. The League has been so effective encouraging citizens in Massachusetts to support the pro family cause that MassResistance has included Heath in all three of their recent banquets over the past two years. Heath appears at the close of the banquets to invite people to support the group financially.
Camenker, a Jewish father, takes a very direct approach when he addresses "gay" rights issues. Demonstrating great courage while projecting a dry sense of humor the veteran pro family activist agitates throughout the Commonwealth. His activities earn him pain and praise everyday. This is typical for all leaders everywhere at all times. Brian and MassResistance are no exception. They get a lot done with a little.
The featured speaker at the banquet was Steven Bennett. The Connecticut resident and pastor lived as a gay man for over a decade. Eleven years ago Jesus Christ healed him. He has been married for eleven years and has two young sons. Bennett's words had the ring of authenticity to them as he described his experiences, and his hope in Christ.
Brian Camenker offered his thoughts on the situation in Massachusetts after Bennett spoke. Notwithstanding the fact that Massachusetts is the only state in America with same sex marriage, Camenker said that he is hopeful. He was critical of efforts in the State House by Christians that include accepting the idea of civil unions while protecting the word marriage. Pro family activists have not been successful using the referendum process to create positive change. Legislators have the power to deny citizens access to the ballot in Massachusetts. Maine's politicians do not have this power.
Camenker suggested that the political tactics of pragmatism including deal-making and compromise will not work for pro family activists. He said that the only thing that will work is truth-telling and confrontation. To prove his point he held up a fund raising letter by popular Christian preacher D. James Kennedy. The recent letter to his national following highlighted a number of actions that MassResistance had undertaken that produced national media storms. The Kennedy letter did not mention MassResistance. Camenker quipped good naturedly, "God bless him."
David Parker followed Camenker. Parker was arrested in April of 2005 for requesting to be notified by teachers before his 7 year old son was exposed to pro homosexual propaganda in the Lexington Elementary School. Parker and one other family are now suing the school district.
Heath closed the banquet with an appeal for funds. He announced that one donor who was present had committed $30,000 to MassResistance. This donor committed to giving this generous sum when MassResistance raised an equal amount from other donors.
League offers MassResistance
August 3rd, 2006The League has resisted the so-called "gay" agenda since the beginning. Christian Civic League of Maine executive director Michael Heath offered some "MassResistance" of his own today from Capitol Park.
From a park bench he spoke for 15 minutes with Brian Camenker over his cellphone. The leaders discussed the recent attack on Heath's wife. It was launched by a spokesperson for "Equality Maine," the radical pro homosexual group that is now campaigning for same sex marriage in Maine.
Camenker, the director of the pro family group called "MassResistance" called the photo by Adam Flanders "horrific." Camenker's cohost, Amy, said it was "evil." The Flanders picture is a doctored digital image of Heath's wife, Paulie. She is made to look like Satan in the picture. It was posted to a page on Amazon.com, the popular online retailer.
The radio show was taped. Mainers can listen online by going HERE

LEAGUE CALLS FOR BOYCOTT OF MACYS
OVER SUPPORT OF GAY PRIDE WEEK
A bizarre display in the window of Macy's store in Boston has many people scratching their heads and asking what the liberal establishment will do next in its frantic effort to promote perversion. One portion of the display showed a calendar of events for the week-long Gay Pride gathering in Boston; while the other part of the display showed two mannequins - one dressed in a rainbow skirt, and the other wearing an uncharacteristic look of masculine resolve.
The window display offered a cheerful scene Macy hoped would prove the department store's deep commitment to the message of diversity. But in the headlong rush to conform to a politically correct agenda, somebody at Macys goofed. Whoever decorated the window display used mannequins which are clearly not just homosexual, but trans-sexual as well -- men who are being changed from men into women.
Trans-sexual mannequins turned out to be a bit more than the people of Boston could stomach. The management of Macys was deluged with calls from indignant members of the public. The mannequins disappeared, but the calendar of events remained.
The League immediately e-mailed the executive office of Macys and announced its intention to call on the supporters of the League to boycott Macys until the League received a written apology for the display, and a promise that Macys will no longer support gay activism.
The League urges its friends to help turn back the growing tide of gay activism by boycotting Macys. Clearly, the homosexual rights movement is no longer content with just equal rights. Instead, it is using our public schools as a means to indoctrinate young children into the homosexual lifestyle. After an entire generation has been taught that homosexuality is normal, no one will be left to oppose militant gay activism; and the era in which heterosexuality alone was considered normal will be gone forever.
GROUND SWELL OF DISSATISFACTION
THREATENS TO TOPPLE SNOWE
Although Olympia Snowe's vote against the Marriage Protection Amendment was expected, public dissatisfaction with her performance in office shows every sign of cascading into unprecedented proportions. Her latest vote against family values has led many to conclude that a liberal masquerading under the label of a "moderate" is no longer acceptable. The public's patience with the political equivalent of Three-card Monty is apparently at long last exhausted; and the only supporters of Snowe remaining are political functionaries who put a misguided loyalty to the Republican Party over loyalty to the American people.
A vote against the institution of marriage is elitism at its worst. Snowe showed that she is all too willing to carry out the behests of the liberal establishment, even when it is in support of as absurd a proposition as gay marriage and civil unions, two concepts which represent essentially the same thing. That she represents nothing of the spirit and values of Maine is painfully apparent; and it is clear to all that she is more than happy in her role as an Abigail to the liberal establishment -- a maid-in-waiting to the true Queen of Liberalism, Hillary Clinton, for which service TIME magazine anointed her One of America's Ten Best Senators."
The outcome of Tuesday's primary will be difficult to predict, but the backlash against the Senate's disgraceful performance on immigration reform has begun to kick in. Clearly, more and more people are waking up to the fact that illegal immigration, same-sex marriage, globalism, and abortion are not abstract questions, but rather critical and pressing matters of national survival. And now, the public is more than ready to say "Dump Snowe!"
HOW THE WESTBROOK SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
RAILROADED ITS NEW SEX EDUCATION CURRICULUM
The following is a column which first appeared in the Portland Press Herald on June 6th. It should be noted that parents learned of the plan to teach kindergarteners lessons on same-sex-marriage only two days before the school board vote, not two weeks as stated in the column.
Those who saw the Westbrook School Board vote unanimously last month to change the sex education curriculum to include lessons on contraception and gay marriage were also watching a carefully choreographed event.
Only a few Westbrook parents, those who had access to the memos and reports relied on by the school administration to make the proposed changes - the script, if you will - perceived the director hard at work behind the scenes.
Volumes of documents were released to one concerned Westbrook parent as part of a request under the Maine Freedom of Access Act, but not all the documents were released prior to the vote by the school board. One document, thought to be the most revealing, was missing certain pages which were believed to contain crucial information.
The Christian Civic League of Maine was also denied the same important document as part of its own Freedom of Access request. However, the documents which were released made two things absolutely clear.
First, the statistics relied on by the school administration were completely erroneous. Rather than prove that the rate of teen pregnancies in Westbook are increasing, the statistics prove exactly the opposite case, that teen pregnancies are declining rapidly.
Second, the documents prove that the curriculum changes were authored by the New York-based "sex education" group SIECUS; they were adopted word-for-word, in their entirety, even though the parents of Westbrook were misled into believing that the changes were arrived at after a long period of consultation with the community.
What was offered to the community as a grassroots effort, was in fact, the product of the most liberal sex education group in the nation. Despite being told the changes were the result of a grassroots effort, parents learned of the most objectionable part of the curriculum changes - including lessons on same-sex marriage for kindergarteners - only two weeks before the school board approved the changes.
There is only one possible explanation why a school board would rely on an interpretation of statistical data which has been clearly demonstrated to be false, and would mislead the community into believing that the SIECUS recommendations were a grassroots effort.
The unanimous decision by the school board, without a single objection, proves that the actions of the board were not based on a careful examination of the merits of the proposed changes, but were instead based on a perceived need to conform to a political agenda.
In order for the political agenda to gain acceptance with the parents of Westbrook, it was necessary to hide the origin and purpose of the proposed curriculum changes, and to misrepresent the process by which the decision was made. In other words, the decision to adopt the proposed changes was theater from start to finish.
Yet this sort of theater is taking on an increasingly sinister aspect. Such proceedings are a familiar part of totalitarian societies. Those present at the school board meeting saw that many of the school board members appeared to be genuinely afraid to question the proposed changes, and seemed a bit too eager to lift their hands in approval.
No doubt they were well aware that in public schools across the nation, speaking out against the "diversity" agenda quickly results in efforts to remove those who hold such views.
Many might believe the comparison to a totalitarian nation to be an exaggeration, were it not for the notice on a bulletin board in Westbrook High, the first thing students see on entering the building. The bulletin board is used to post notices for the so-called Civil Rights Teams, a state-funded program which promotes the diversity agenda, including an uncritical acceptance of homosexuality.
The notice reads: "If you deface any of the posters, information sheets or decorations, you are committing a hate crime, and also damaging property that does not belong to you."
Clearly, there is more to this message than a simple warning not to deface school property. Since no other bulletin board - or any other means - is provided for expressing a contrary opinion, the message is clear: "Dissent will not be tolerated."
Given this climate of intimidation, it is not surprising that even the members of the Westbrook School Board no longer feel free to speak their minds openly. It is an ominous sign for the future of America. by Fritz Spencer
PETITION CIRCULATORS URGENTLY NEEDED
Are you interested in making a difference for Maine, and making sure that "The Way Life Should Be" doesn't disappear overnight? Maine has a once-in-a-lifetime chance next Tuesday, election day, to ban ALL slot-machines permanently. But it will happen only if you get involved!
A new study by Earl Grinols of Baylor University and David B. Mustard of the University of Georgia, published in The Review of Economics and Statistics this year, shows that for the casinos they analyzed
"By the fifth year of operation, robberies were up 136 %; aggravated
assaults, 91 %; auto theft, 78 %; burglary, 50 %; larceny, 38 %; and rape, 21 %."
The authors concluded that the costs clearly exceed the benefits. We can expect the same here in Maine. But now we have a chance to shut it all down.
The No Slots for Maine campaign needs volunteers to collect signatures in polling places statewide next Tuesday. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the League at (207) 622-7634 Ext. 1 for information on how you can make a difference.
THE LEAGUE NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT
The League has enjoyed a series of victories, including an end to the trouble at the Spellbound lingerie store in Augusta, the publication of the first photo of a U.S. governor hobnobbing with Fidel Castro, and the very successful start of the League's monthly newspaper, The RECORD.
Recently, the League opposed the efforts of the Westbrook School Board to introduce lessons on same-sex marriage in kindergarten. But the League's rainy day fund was used up in its campaign to defeat Governor Baldacci's sexual orientation law, and the League is now experiencing a critical financial need.
The League is the most effective voice for traditional values in the state, and we ask that you please prayerfully consider making a donation to help the League continue its vitally important work. Online donations through PayPal, the method shown below, are safe and secure. You can send checks to the Christian Civic League of Maine, 70 Sewall Street, Augusta, ME 04330. You can also make a donation in cash at the same address.

POLICE GUARD PRO-HOMOSEXUAL "DAY OF SILENCE" AT MASSACHUSETTS SCHOOL
AS STUDENTS LEARN THE DOCTRINE OF PERVERSION
Moms and Dads arriving at Lexington High School in Massachusetts last week to ask about the pro-homosexual "Day of Silence" at the school were astounded to see police cruisers outside, as police kept a careful watch on parents who might object too strenuously to the pro-homosexual observance. Police were also stationed in the parking lot where they asked each arriving parent why they were visiting the school.
One parent who had been granted permission to bring material to the school to present the opposing viewpoint was unexpectedly turned away, and escorted off the grounds of the school by the police. This same parent had previously given the Superintendent a petition with the signatures of sixty parents asking that the event be cancelled.
Unlike the traditional American value of speaking one's mind freely, The "Day of Silence" encourages students to remain silent for the entire school day to "show their support of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered youth." The pro-homosexual activities held during the day, are a form of psychological conditioning which enforces the message that students, and American society at large, must remain silent in the face of homosexual militancy. In a bizarre reversal of American values, those who dare speak out against homosexuality are stigmatized and ostracized by their peers, a form of social control which is the basis for all totalitarian societies.
During the Day of Silence at Lexington High, students were strongly encouraged to wear rainbow-colored "Ally Bracelets" which bore the word "ALLY," to show their solidarity with the homosexual rights movement. Students were also encouraged to wear t-shirts with the slogan: "Gay? Fine by me!" At another school, fifty students who were kept out of school by their parents on the Day of Silence received unexcused absences from their principal.
The enormous power wielded by militant homosexuals is seen in legislation such as SB 1437 currently under consideration by the California legislature. If enacted into law, the bill would mandate the teaching of pro-homosexual lessons in school, and would lead to the banning of the terms "Mom" and "Dad", and the natural family, as stereotypes which reflect adversely on "gays." It is interesting to note in this regard, that the Province of Ontario has already eliminated the words "mother" and "father" from its statutes, gay militants having gained a complete stranglehold on the traditional concept of marriage and the family.
In our own state, the gay lobby and the Democratic Party are on intimate terms, as can be seen in the upcoming $100 a plate gay fundraiser for Governor Baldacci, which will be held in Portland on Mother's Day, a not so subtle hint that the gay lobby believes it will eventually succeed in having Governor Baldacci come out in favor of gay marriage and gay adoption -- once he wins the election, but not before.
Republicans are also careful to cater to the whims of the wealthy and powerful gay lobby. Gubernatorial candidate Peter Mills courted the gay vote by appearing at the annual Equality Maine Awards Banquet in Portland in March, though he has on one occasion refused to admit his presence there, when questioned about it publicly. And Republican gubernatorial candidate David Emery is steadfastly non-committal on gay rights, ducking the question repeatedly for fear of alienating the gay vote.
In any case, the openly-homosexual Democratic State Senator Scott Cowger, owns a gay-friendly inn in Hallowell, where the losers in the upcoming primaries, Democrat and Liberal Republican alike, could go to commiserate should an outraged public succeed in sending the gay lobby and their political allies back into the closet.
And that day won't be long in coming, since the public, worried about their children and the growing power of homosexual militants, is beginning to wake up, and the backlash is finally setting in.
