Governor and Maine Democrats Share an Intimate Moment with Cuban Dictator Fidel Castro
Augusta -- The League has obtained astonishing new photos from the Governor's meeting with Fidel Castro. The photos were produced only after repeated requests by the Christian Civic League under the Maine Freedom of Access Act. The photos shown here were omitted from the first group of photos released to the League.
The photos were released by the Baldacci administration in piecemeal fashion, first a photo of Detective Robert Slattery reluctantly shaking hands with Fidel Castro. A second request was then sent to other Maine officials, resulting in the release of a photo of the Governor and Castro alone. A third request resulted in the release of a group shot showing Castro and top Democrat officials. Finally, the last request resulted in the release of the photos shown here, the ones the Governor and his closest advisors hoped the public would never see.
A source with connections to the Governor's Office says that the Governor has been very irate lately, yelling at his staff, and raising his voice in phone conversations. It is not known if his frequent outbursts of temper are related to the release of these photos.
In the most surprising photo, Fidel Castro, who is listed among the one hundred worst tyrants in human history, is shown with his arm around State Representative Edward Dugay from Cherryfield. Shown directly opposite Castro, is House Speaker John Richardson. The body language of the group is one of shared warmth and camaraderie, as if the detested dictator were welcoming the Maine delegation into his inner circle.
We are told that during his meeting with the Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, the Governor discussed only cows. But if the subject was merely cows, how do we account for the look of fascination on the Governor's face as he listens intently and respectfully to one of Castro's infamous harangues?
The League is poised to inspect documents from House Speaker John Richardson's office, and documents related to the Governor's meeting with Venezuelan officials at the Portland International Jetport in December on his return trip from Cuba.
It is the sincere prayer of the League and the Executive Director of the League, that Almighty God will continue to guide and protect our beloved State of Maine.
The photos shown here are in the public domain, and may be freely copied and distributed.
